ऋषयश्न महाभागा: पुरस्कृत्य शतक्रतुम् । समीयुस््तत्र सहिता द्रष्ट॑ं तद् वैशसं महत्
sañjaya uvāca | ṛṣayaś ca mahābhāgāḥ puraskṛtya śatakratum | samīyus tatra sahitā draṣṭuṃ tad vaiśasaṃ mahat ||
サンジャヤは言った――福徳に満ちた大聖仙たちは、「シャタクラトゥ」（インドラ）を先頭に戴き、あの広大にして戦慄すべき殺戮を見届けんがため、揃ってそこに集い来た。さらにその光景は、神々、ガンダルヴァ、祖霊（ピトリ）、成就者（シッダ）、チャーラナに至るまでをも観衆として引き寄せ、戦の暴虐が宇宙的事件となってダルマの秩序と人の選択の報いを試すことを示していた。
