アルジュナは言った。(これは対話においてアルジュナの応答を導入する話者標識である。)『ビーシュマ・パルヴァ』—戦の瀬戸際—という倫理的・物語的状況の中で、アルジュナの言葉は、聴聞から問いと道徳的省察へと移る転機を示す。彼はクリシュナの教えに向き合い、義務と正しい行為、そして争いのただ中で内なる不動へ至る道についての疑いを解こうとする。
अजुन उवाच
This line itself does not state a doctrine; it functions as a formal cue that Arjuna is about to speak. Its value is structural: it marks the transition to Arjuna’s inquiry or response, which frames the ethical problem (dharma in crisis) and invites clarification from Kṛṣṇa.
Within Bhīṣma Parva’s battlefield dialogue, the narration signals that Arjuna now takes the role of speaker. After hearing instruction, he responds—typically by asking, doubting, or seeking a more precise understanding—so the teaching can proceed through question and answer.
