उवाच माधव: काले धर्मपुत्र॑ युधिष्ठिरम्‌ । दिष्ट्या जयसि कौरव्य दिष्ट्या भीष्मो निपातित:

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | uvāca mādhavaḥ kāle dharmaputraṁ yudhiṣṭhiram | diṣṭyā jayasi kauravya diṣṭyā bhīṣmo nipātitaḥ ||

Translation

サञ्जयは語った。時宜を得て、マーダヴァ（シュリー・クリシュナ）は法子ユディシュティラに告げた。「吉兆である、クル族の末裔よ――汝は勝ちつつある。さらに同じく吉兆として、ビ―シュマは打ち倒された。」この言葉は、戦場の出来事を単なる戦術的成功としてではなく、運命が許した転機として位置づける。倒れたのが、クルのダルマを守ってきた敬われる長老であるがゆえに、その倫理的重みは甚だ大きい。
