तदप्यस्य शितैर्भल्लैस्त्रिधा त्रिभिरघातयत्‌ | तब गंगानन्दन भीष्मने दूसरा अत्यन्त प्रबल धनुष हाथमें लिया; परंतु अर्जुनने तीन तीखे भल्‍्लोंद्वारा मारकर उसे भी तीन जगहसे खण्डित कर दिया

tad apy asya śitair bhallais tridhā tribhir aghātayat |

サञ्जयは語った。その弓でさえ、アルジュナは剃刀のごとく鋭いバッラ(bhalla)の矢三本で打ち、三つに砕いた。この一幕は、戦におけるアルジュナの規律ある達人の技と、止むことなき戦の奔流を示す。技と決意が揺るがぬとき、最強の武具すら無力となるのだ。
