तमेक॑ छादयामासुर्मेघा इव दिवाकरम् । भीष्म भागीरथीपुत्र प्रतपन्तं रणे रिपून्
tam ekaṁ chādayāmāsur meghā iva divākaram | bhīṣma bhāgīrathīputra pratapantaṁ raṇe ripūn, paraṁtapa ||
サンジャヤは言った。雲が太陽を覆うように、あの英雄たちはビ―シュマを覆い尽くした――歩兵・騎兵・戦車兵の大群と、数限りない矢で四方から包囲したのである。だがその時、バーギーラティー（ガンガー）の子ビ―シュマは戦場にただ一人立ち、敵の隊列を烈しく灼き尽くしていた――おお、敵を屈する者よ。
