शिक्षाबलेन निहतं पित्रा तव विशाम्पते । भरतश्रेष्ठ] उस दसवें दिनके आनेपर एकमात्र भीष्मने युद्धमें मत्स्य और पांचालदेशकी सेनाओंके अगणित हाथी

sañjaya uvāca | śikṣābalena nihataṃ pitrā tava viśāmpate |

サンジャヤは言った。「おお、民の主よ。それは、ただ武器の鍛錬という力によって、あなたの父君が討ち滅ぼしたのである。第十日が来るや、ビ―シュマはただ一人戦場にあって、マツヤとパンチャーラの軍の数えきれぬ象と馬を斬り伏せ、さらに七人の大車戦士(マハーラティ)を討ち取った。おお、民を護る王よ。そののち彼は車兵五千をも屠り、あなたにとって父にも等しいビ―シュマは、武器の教えの威力によって、その大戦において歩兵一万四千、象一千、馬一万を滅ぼし尽くした。」
