bhīṣmam evābhidudrāva sarvasainyastha paśyataḥ | rājan vijayī arjunaḥ samara-bhūmau duḥśāsanaṃ jitvā samastasenānāṃ paśyatāṃ paśyatāṃ bhīṣme eva ākramaṇaṃ cakāra |

The verse highlights the tension between personal reverence and public duty: even the most venerable figure (Bhīṣma) may become an opponent when the demands of kṣatriya-dharma and the necessities of war require decisive action, carried out openly and responsibly before the community of warriors.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna, after defeating Duḥśāsana, immediately turns and charges directly at Bhīṣma, doing so in full view of all the assembled forces—an emphatic depiction of Arjuna’s momentum and intent to engage the foremost commander.
