भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ११०: पार्थभीमयोः प्रहारः तथा भीष्माभिमुखं संग्रामविस्तारः
Arjuna and Bhima’s pressure; escalation toward Bhishma
उवाच राजा दीनात्मा प्रीतियुक्तमिदं वच: । गंगानन्दन भीष्म जब बारंबार इस प्रकार प्रसन्नता-पूर्वक कह रहे थे, उस समय राजा युधिष्ठटिरने दीन हृदयसे प्रेमपूर्वक यह बात कही-- || ६१ ई ।।
sañjaya uvāca | uvāca rājā dīnātmā prītiyuktam idaṁ vacaḥ | gaṅgānandana bhīṣma yadā bāraṁbāram evaṁ prakāraṁ prasannatā-pūrvakaṁ vadati sma, tadā rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ dīna-hṛdayena prītyā idaṁ vacaḥ uvāca— kathaṁ jayema sarvajña, kathaṁ rājyaṁ labhemahi |
サञ्जयは語った。ガンガーの子ビーシュマが、喜びと慈しみに満ちた心でそのように幾度も語り続けていたとき、王ユディシュティラは—憂いに沈みながらも深い敬意を抱き—親愛をこめてこう問うた。「全知の御方よ、いかにしてこの戦に勝ち、いかにして王国を取り戻せばよいのでしょうか。」
संजय उवाच
The verse frames a dharmic dilemma: victory and sovereignty are not sought as mere power, but as a moral problem requiring guidance from a wise elder. Yudhishthira’s question implies that rightful success in war must be aligned with dharma and proper counsel.
Sanjaya reports that Bhishma is speaking repeatedly and calmly; in response, the distressed yet respectful Yudhishthira addresses Bhishma as ‘all-knowing’ and asks how the Pandavas can win the war and recover the kingdom.
