Arjuna and Ulūpī: Explanation of Śānti and the Maṇipūra Resolution
अदत्तानुनयो युद्धे यदि त्वं पितृभिर्मम । करिष्यामि तवातिथ्यं प्रहर प्रहहामि च
adattānunayo yuddhe yadi tvaṃ pitṛbhir mama | kariṣyāmi tavātithyaṃ prahara prahariṣyāmi ca ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「もし戦場において、我が父祖がそなたに相応の歓待と敬意を捧げたことが一度もなかったのなら、今日この私がその欠けを償おう。この戦場で、客人にふさわしい“もてなし”を授ける——まずそなたが我を打て、そして次に我がそなたを打ち返す。」
