The verse highlights dharmic conduct in crisis: humility, reverence, and an appeal to compassion. By bringing elders and children forward, the Nāgas emphasize vulnerability and seek mercy through respectful surrender rather than defiance.
The Nāgas collectively approach the addressed Lord (spoken to by the Horse), join their palms, bow their heads, and prostrate, asking, “Be pleased; be gracious to us.” It is a formal plea for favor and protection.
