गते भगवति व्यासे राजा पाण्डुसुतस्तदा । प्रोवाच पितरं वृद्ध मन्दं मन्दमिवानत:

Transliteration

gate bhagavati vyāse rājā pāṇḍusutastadā | provāca pitaraṃ vṛddha mandaṃ mandamivānataḥ ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。尊きヴィヤーサが去ったのち、王—パーンドゥの子—は老いた父に向かって言葉をかけた。深く頭を垂れて謙り、声を抑えるように、ゆるやかに柔らかく語った。敬意と自制を忘れぬためである。
