कुन्तीनिवर्तनप्रयत्नः तथा वननिवासप्रारम्भः
Attempt to Dissuade Kuntī; Commencement of Forest Residence
तापसैश्न महाभागैर्नानादेशसमागतै: । द्रष्ट कुरुपते: पुत्रान् पाण्डवान् पृथुवक्षस:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! जब राजा धृतराष्ट्र सुन्दर कमलके-से नेत्रोंवाले पुरुषसिंह युधिष्ठिर आदि पाँचों भाइयोंके साथ आश्रममें विराजमान हुए, उस समय वहाँ अनेक देशोंसे आये हुए महाभाग तपस्वीगण कुरुराज पाण्डुके पुत्र--विशाल वक्ष:स्थलवाले पाण्डवोंको देखनेके लिये पहलेसे उपस्थित थे

draṣṭuṁ kurupateḥ putrān pāṇḍavān pṛthuvakṣasaḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。諸国より来た福徳ある修行者たちはすでにそこに居り、般度の子、胸広きパーンダヴァら—俱盧の主の子らでもある—を見んと願っていた。この光景は、戦禍ののちに生き残った継承者たちが、道義と霊性の憂慮の的として、遁世の共同体に見届けられるべき存在と見なされていることを示している。
