कुन्तीनिवर्तनप्रयत्नः तथा वननिवासप्रारम्भः

Attempt to Dissuade Kuntī; Commencement of Forest Residence

एतास्तु सीमन्तशिरोरुहा या: शुक्लोत्तरीया नरराजपत्न्यः । राज्ञोअस्य वृद्धस्य परं शताख्या: स्‍्नुषा नृवीराहतपुत्रनाथा:,इन सबके सिवा ये जितनी स्त्रियाँ सफेद चादर ओढ़े बैठी हुई हैं, जिनकी माँगोंमें सिन्दूर नहीं है, ये सब दुर्योधन आदि सौ भाइयोंकी पत्नियाँ और इन बूढ़े महाराजकी सौ पुत्रवधुएँ हैं। इनके पति और पुत्र रणमें नरवीरोंद्वारा मारे गये हैं

etāstu sīmantaśiroruhā yāḥ śuklottarīyā nararājapatnyaḥ | rājño 'sya vṛddhasya paraṃ śatākhyāḥ snuṣā nṛvīrāhataputranāthāḥ ||

サンジャヤは言った。「そして彼女らのほかに、これらの女たち——王たちの妃——は白衣をまとって座し、髪の分け目も頭も、妻としての吉祥のしるしを失っている。彼女らはこの老王の嫁たち、すなわち『百』と呼ばれる百人の兄弟の妻である。夫と子——命の支え——は、戦場にて勇士らに討たれた。」
