Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue
गणित: पज्चवीर्यश्रु आदित्यो रश्मिवांस्तथा । सप्तकृत् सोमवर्चाश्च विश्वकृत् कविरेव च
gaṇitaḥ pañcavīryaśru ādityo raśmivāṁs tathā | saptakṛt somavarcāś ca viśvakṛt kavir eva ca ||
ビーシュマは言った。「彼はガニタ(Gaṇita)と呼ばれ、またパンチャヴィーリヤシュル(Pañcavīryaśru)ともいう。彼はアーディティヤ(Āditya)—輝ける者—であり、ラシュミヴァーン(Raśmivān)—『光線を具する者』—である。さらにサプタクリト(Saptakṛt)、ソーマヴァルチャー(Somavarcā)—『月のごとき光沢』—、ヴィシュヴァクリト(Viśvakṛt)—『万有の造り手』—、そしてカヴィ(Kavi)—『賢き予見者』—とも知られる。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse models devotional and ethical remembrance through nāma-saṅkīrtana: enumerating divine epithets that highlight radiance, creative power, and wisdom, encouraging reverence for the cosmic source that upholds order (dharma).
In Bhīṣma’s instruction, he recites a sequence of honorific names/epithets—solar, lunar, creative, and sage-like—functioning as a litany of praise within his broader discourse on righteous conduct and sacred observances.
