Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue
सप्त विप्रांस्ततो भोज्ये युगपत् समुपानयत् । ऋते च लवणं भोज्यं श्यामाकान्न॑ ददौ प्रभु:,प्रभावशाली निमिने उन सातोंको एक ही साथ भोजनके लिये अलोना सावाँ परोसा
sapta viprāṁs tato bhojye yugapat samupānayat | ṛte ca lavaṇaṁ bhojyaṁ śyāmākānnaṁ dadau prabhuḥ |
ビーシュマは言った。ついで力ある王ニミは、七人のバラモンを同時に食事のために招き寄せ、塩を加えぬシャーマーカ(śyāmāka)の穀物の食を供した。
भीष्म उवाच
True virtue in hospitality and conduct is shown not merely by abundance but by restraint and intention; the scene emphasizes simplicity, self-control, and the capacity to remain content even when customary comforts (like salt) are absent.
Nimi gathers seven Brahmins together for a meal and serves them śyāmāka-grain food without salt, setting up a situation that tests their disposition and reveals ethical qualities such as patience, contentment, and discipline.
