Bhishma frames gold (suvarṇa) as a topic of moral and social significance, signaling that its ‘greatness’ should be understood within dharma—how wealth is valued, acquired, and used (especially in gifts, ritual, and righteous governance).
Bhishma continues his didactic discourse and addresses a revered sage, asking him to listen carefully as he resumes explaining the virtues and importance attributed to gold.
