पुनाति य इदं वेद वेदवादं तथैव च । प्रकृति: सर्वभूतानां भूमिर्वैश्वानरी मता
punāti ya idaṁ veda vedavādaṁ tathaiva ca | prakṛtiḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ bhūmir vaiśvānarī matā ||
ビーシュマは言った。この教え—ヴェーダの教理でもある—を真に知る者は、清める力を得る。大地は一切の生類の根源と見なされ、また「ヴァイシュヴァーナラ」(Vaiśvānara)と称されて、普遍の火であるアグニ(Agni)を主宰神として戴く。ゆえに、この聖なる説話を知ることは浄化をもたらすと讃えられ、地を生命の共通の起源として敬い、アグニをその神的統御者として崇めることと、倫理的清浄とを結びつけるのである。
भीष्म उवाच
The verse praises sacred knowledge as a purifier and frames the Earth as the universal origin (prakṛti) of beings, with Vaiśvānara/Agni as its presiding divine principle—linking ethical purity to reverence for cosmic order.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma continues instructing on dharma and sacred merits; here he extols the sanctifying power of knowing a particular sacred teaching and states a cosmological identification of Earth with Vaiśvānara (universal fire) under Agni’s lordship.
