अध्याय ५६ — च्यवन–कुशिकसंवादः

Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission

वस्त्रै: शुभेरवच्छाद्य भोजनोपस्करै: सह । सर्वमादीपयामास च्यवनो भृगुनन्दन:

vastraiḥ śubhair avacchādya bhojanopaskaraiḥ saha | sarvam ādīpayāmāsa cyavano bhṛgunandanaḥ ||

ビーシュマは言った。上等の衣で一切を覆い—食の備えと器具をも含めて—ブリグ族の誉れチャヴァナは、その整えられたすべてを火にかけた。この一件は、意図をもつ価値判断の行為を際立たせる。すなわち、苦行者が贅沢な歓待を断固として退け、節制を示し、外の華やぎより内なる規律を第一とすることを明らかにしたのである。
