तत्पाणिग्रहणात्‌ पूर्वमन्तरं यत्र वर्तते । सर्वमड्रलमन्त्रं वै मृषावादस्तु पातक:

tat-pāṇigrahaṇāt pūrvam antaraṃ yatra vartate | sarva-maṅgala-mantraṃ vai mṛṣāvādas tu pātakaḥ ||

ビーシュマは言った。花嫁の手を正式に取る儀(pāṇigrahaṇa)の前に、たとえ吉祥の作法と真言がすでに行われていても、間隙や障碍が生じて娘が別の相応しい花婿に与えられるなら、与える者(後見人)に及ぶのは虚言の罪のみである。
