यस्त्वत्र मन्त्रसमयो भारयपत्योर्मिथ: कृत: । तमेवाहुर्गरीयांसं यश्चासौ ज्ञातिभि: कृत:
yas tv atra mantrasamayo bhāryāpatyor mithaḥ kṛtaḥ | tam evāhur garīyāṁsaṁ yaś cāsau jñātibhiḥ kṛtaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「婚姻の誓約の諸形のうち、夫と妻が正しい儀礼に則り、聖なる誦唱を伴って互いに立てる誓いこそ、最も重いものとされる。さらにその結びつきが親族によって承認され支えられるなら、いよいよ称賛に値する。個の誓願と、社会の認可と安定とを一つに結ぶからである。」
