Vivāha-dharma: Kanyā-pradāna, Śulka, and Pāṇigrahaṇa-niṣṭhā (अनुशासन पर्व, अध्याय ४४)
विपुल उवाच अजितेन्द्रिय दुर्बुद्धे पापात्मक पुरन्दर । न चिरं पूजयिष्यन्ति देवास्त्वां मानुषास्तथा
vipula uvāca | ajitendriya durbuddhe pāpātmaka purandara | na ciraṁ pūjayiṣyanti devās tvāṁ mānuṣās tathā ||
ヴィプラは言った。「おおプランダラよ、おまえは心に罪を宿し、理解はねじれ、感官を制することもできぬ。もしそのままでいるなら、神々も、そして人々も、もはや長くおまえを敬い崇めはしない。」
विपुल उवाच
Honor and authority are sustained by inner discipline: one who cannot restrain the senses and acts from a sinful disposition loses the reverence of both gods and humans. Ethical self-mastery is presented as the foundation of lasting esteem.
Vipula directly rebukes Purandara (Indra), calling out his lack of self-control and corrupt judgment, and warns him that continued misconduct will cause both divine and human beings to withdraw their worship and respect.
