Anuśāsana-parva 38
भूयस्तेषां बल॑ मन्ये यथा राज्ञस्तपस्विन: । दुरासदाश्न चण्डाश्व रभसा: क्षिप्रकारिण:,मैं ब्राह्मणोंका बल तपस्वी राजाके समान बहुत बड़ा मानता हूँ। वे दुर्जय, प्रचण्ड, वेगशाली और शीघ्रकारी होते हैं
bhūyas teṣāṃ balaṃ manye yathā rājñas tapassvinaḥ | durāsadāś ca caṇḍāśva-rabhasāḥ kṣipra-kāriṇaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「いよいよ私は、彼らの力を甚大なものと見る――苦行に生きる王の力のごとく。彼らは攻め寄せがたく、猛々しく、突進は迅く、行いは即断である。」
भीष्म उवाच
Bhishma emphasizes that the true power of Brahmanas lies in tapas and moral-spiritual force: it can be as formidable as royal power, and when roused it becomes difficult to resist—swift and decisive—thereby urging respect for dharma and restraint in dealing with the spiritually disciplined.
In Bhishma’s instruction within the Anushasana Parva, he is describing the formidable potency of Brahmanas, comparing their strength to that of a king who practices austerity, and characterizing them as unassailable, fierce, swift, and prompt in action.
