Nārada and Pañcacūḍā on Strī-svabhāva
Anuśāsana-parva 38
yac caiva mānuṣe loke yac ca deveṣu kiñcana | sarvaṃ tu tapasā sādhyaṃ jñānena niyamena ca ||
All desirable attainments—worldly or heavenly—are achieved through tapas (sustained effort/austerity), guided by jñāna (right understanding) and niyama (disciplined restraint). The verse emphasizes moral causality: inner discipline produces outer and higher results.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on dharma and right conduct. Here he underscores that enjoyment and success in both human and divine spheres depend on disciplined practice and knowledge, not mere birth, chance, or desire.
