Educational Q&A

Cultivate steady mental calm (śama), avoid fault-finding and envy (anāsūyā), and maintain daily sacred study (svādhyāya); these disciplines enable a person to overcome dangers and crises.

Nārada is instructing by listing the qualities of people who successfully pass through adversity, emphasizing inner discipline and ethical speech/attitude rather than external power.
