Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
jātyandhair iha tulyās te mṛtāḥ paṅgubhir eva ca | samarthā ye na paśyanti gaṅgāṃ puṇyajalāṃ śivām ||
If one has the capacity to seek what is purifying and auspicious (symbolized by seeing the holy Gaṅgā) but still neglects it, that neglect renders one spiritually inert—comparable to blindness, lameness, or death.
A Siddha delivers a pointed moral observation: the holy Gaṅgā is available as a source of auspicious purification, and those who are able yet fail to go and behold her are censured through strong comparisons.
