ビーシュマは言った。「バーラタよ、乞い願われたとき、求めに応じて住まい、田畑、居住の地を授ける者——その施主は天界に至る。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that dharmic giving includes providing foundational resources for life—homes, land, and settlements—especially when granted in line with a genuine request; such responsive generosity is said to lead to heavenly merit.
In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma, particularly the fruits of various forms of dāna (charitable gifts). Here he commends donors who fulfill petitioners’ requests for housing and land, declaring their reward as attainment of heaven.
