पतिव्रता सत्यशीला नित्यं चैवार्जवे रता । कथ्थ॑ न प्रत्युदेत्यद्य स्मपमाना यथा पुरा

Transliteration

pativratā satyaśīlā nityaṃ caivārjave ratā | kathaṃ na pratyudety adya smayamānā yathā purā ||

Translation

ビーシュマは言った。「わが妻は—貞婦の誓いに堅く、真実を守り、つねに率直さを喜ぶ者—なぜ今日は、以前のように微笑んで私を迎えに出てこないのか。私に仕えることより重い務めが、どうして急に彼女に降りかかったのだ。」
