उषित्वा शर्वरी: श्रीमान् पञ्चाशन्नगरोत्तमे । समयं कौरवाग्रयस्य सस्मार पुरुषर्षभ:
uṣitvā śarvarīḥ śrīmān pañcāśan nagarottame | samayaṃ kauravāgryasya sasmāra puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||
その最上の都に五十夜逗留したのち、輝かしき人中の雄牛ユディシュティラは、カウラヴァの第一人たるビーシュマが示した定めの時を思い起こした――それは、長老の教えとダルマの要請に従って行動しようとする、慎み深い決意のあらわれであった。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
