Śiva-stavarāja: Upamanyu’s Preface and Initiation of the Śarva-Nāma Enumeration
Anuśāsana-parva 17
tena te śrāvayiṣyāmi yat tad brahma sanātanam | na śakyaṃ vistarāt kṛtsnaṃ vaktuṃ sarvasya kenacit ||
The verse frames Brahman as eternal and ultimately beyond exhaustive verbal description. It teaches epistemic humility: sacred truth can be indicated and heard, but not completely captured in detailed speech.
Vāyudeva begins an instruction by promising to recite the eternal Brahman to the listener, while simultaneously cautioning that no speaker can fully articulate the entirety of that supreme reality in elaborate detail.
