अतिथीनां च सर्वेषां प्रेष्याणां स्वजनस्य च । तथा शरणकामानां गोप्ता स्यात् स्वागतप्रद:
atithīnāṃ ca sarveṣāṃ preṣyāṇāṃ svajanasya ca | tathā śaraṇakāmānāṃ goptā syāt svāgatapradaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「まことに正しき人は、あらゆる客人、家に仕える者、身内の者、そして庇護を求める者の守り手となり、また厚く迎える者となるべきである。ここに示される徳の理想は、責任を伴う歓待—敬意をもって受け入れ、頼られたときにはその安全を確かなものとすること—である。」
