गवां मध्ये तु पठतो गावो<स्य बहुवत्सला: । प्रस्थाने वा प्रवासे वा सर्वावस्थां गत: पठेत्
gavāṁ madhye tu paṭhato gāvo ’sya bahuvatsalāḥ | prasthāne vā pravāse vā sarvāvasthāṁ gataḥ paṭhet |
ビーシュマは言った。「牛の群れの中で（聖なる誦）を唱える者には、牛たちの慈愛がいよいよ深く向けられる。ゆえに、旅立ちの時であれ、他郷にあってであれ、いかなる境遇にあろうとも、この誦持を絶やしてはならない。」この教えは、たゆまぬ修行の大切さと、それが生きとし生けるものに呼び起こす柔らかな守護の相互性を示している。
