भीष्म उवाच
The verse encourages honoring and reciting the names of illustrious, dharmic kings. Such remembrance functions as moral education: it upholds ideals of righteous rule, valor disciplined by dharma, and continuity of ethical tradition through lineage.
Bhīṣma, in his instruction, points to King Purūravas and describes his noble origin and fame. The statement serves as a recommendation to praise/recite Purūravas’ name as part of recalling exemplary figures while discussing duties and virtues in the Anuśāsana teachings.
