ईशान: प्राणद: प्राणो ज्येष्ठ: श्रेष्ठ: प्रजापति: । हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवों मधुसूदन:
īśānaḥ prāṇadaḥ prāṇo jyeṣṭhaḥ śreṣṭhaḥ prajāpatiḥ | hiraṇyagarbho bhūgarbho mādhavo madhusūdanaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「彼はイーシャーナ、万有を統べる主。生命の息を授け、またその息そのものでもある。第一原因として最長老であり、至上の卓越として最勝である。彼はプラジャーパティ、衆生の主。彼はヒラニヤガルバ—黄金の宇宙卵に遍満し創造の源となる者。さらにブーガルバ—大地をその胎内に抱く者。彼はマーダヴァ—ラクシュミーの夫、そしてマドゥスーダナ—魔マドゥを討った者である。」
