अनादिर्भूभ्भुवो लक्ष्मी: सुवीरो रुचिराड़ूद: । जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रम:
anādir bhūr-bhuvo lakṣmīḥ suvīro rucirāṅgadaḥ | janano jana-janmādir bhīmo bhīma-parākramaḥ ||
ビーシュマは言った。「彼は無始にして、万有の根本原因である。大地と諸世界を支える基盤であり、あらゆる美しきものを輝かせる光輝そのものでもある。彼は高貴なる勇士、燦然たる腕輪を帯び、すべての生きとし生けるものの生みの親であり、生まれ来る者の誕生を成り立たせる第一因である。邪なる者にとって彼は“ビーマ”—畏怖すべき者—であり、その武勇はそれ自体が恐るべく、いかなる抗いをも圧倒する。この連ね歌においてビーシュマは、神聖なるものを生命の源として、また悪を抑え屈服させる正義の力として描き出す。」
