Educational Q&A

Dharma is expressed through everyday reverence and courtesy: give precedence to the deserving, honor the guru properly, and practice hospitality—both by inviting guests and by respectfully receiving those who arrive unannounced. Such conduct yields spiritual merit leading to heaven and favorable rebirth.

In Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on righteous conduct, Śrī Maheśvara enumerates specific virtues of a well-behaved person. This verse highlights social dharma—deference on the road, honoring teachers, and attentive reception of guests—and states the karmic फल (result): heaven and later birth in a noble family.
