Discerning Dharma in Accord with Time

न घातयति नो हन्ति घ्नन्तं नैवानुमोदते । सर्वभूतेषु सस्नेही यथा55त्मनि तथापरे
Transliteration
na ghātayati no hanti ghnantaṃ naivānumodate | sarvabhūteṣu sasnehī yathātmāni tathāpare ||
Translation
マハーデーヴァは言った。「彼は他人に殺させず、自らも殺さず、殺す者を是認しない。すべての生きものに親愛を抱き、他者を自分自身と同じように見る。」この文脈で詠われるのは、思い・言葉・行いにおける完全な不害（アヒンサー）である。直接の害のみならず、間接の唆し、さらには道徳的承認さえ退け、普遍の共感に根ざす。
