Vyuṣṭi (Merit-Outcome) of Honoring Brāhmaṇas: Kṛṣṇa and Durvāsā
vrataṃ cacāra dharmātmā kṛṣṇo dvādaśavārṣikam | dīkṣitaṃ cāgatau draṣṭum ubhau nāradaparvatau ||
Dharmic greatness is shown not only in power but in disciplined restraint: a long vow (vrata) undertaken with proper initiation (dīkṣā) exemplifies self-mastery, and such integrity naturally invites the guidance and recognition of sages.
Bhishma narrates that Krishna is engaged in a twelve-year religious observance under initiation, and the sages Nārada and Parvata arrive to see him, setting the stage for instruction or counsel connected with his austerity and purpose.
