निष्कैककण्ठमददं योजनायतं तद्विस्तीर्ण काउ्चनपादपानाम्‌ | वन॑ वृतानां रत्नविभूषितानां न चैव तेषामागतो<5हं फलेन

Bhagīratha uvāca | niṣkaikakaṇṭhamadadaṃ yojanāyataṃ tad vistīrṇaṃ kāñcanapādapānām | vanaṃ vṛtānāṃ ratnavibhūṣitānāṃ na caiva teṣām āgato 'haṃ phalena ||

バギーラタは言った。「かつて私は、縦横一ヨージャナに及ぶ“黄金の足”をもつ樹々の森を施した。一本一本が宝石で飾られ、布で巻かれ、幹の“首”には黄金の首飾りが掛けられていた。だが、その施しの功徳によってさえ、私はこの境地に至ったのではない。」
