वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links ethical steadfastness (keeping one’s word) with legitimate heroism: Sātyaki is praised not only for defeating enemies but for being satyasaṅdha—reliable in truth and vows—suggesting that martial power is most commendable when anchored in integrity.
Vaiśampāyana is describing Sātyaki’s divine provenance, stating that he was born as a partial manifestation of the Marut deities, while also characterizing him as a leading figure of the Vṛṣṇi lineage and a formidable enemy-subduer.
