King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
आवयोर्दष्टयोरेभि: कथं तु स्थात् समागम: । एवं तयोक्तो भगवान् नीहारमसूजत् प्रभु:
āvayor dṛṣṭayor ebhiḥ kathaṃ tu sthāt samāgamaḥ | evaṃ tayokto bhagavān nīhāram asūjat prabhuḥ |
「皆が私たち二人を見ております。このような中で、どうして逢瀬が叶いましょうか。」そう告げられると、霊力を自在にする強大な聖仙パラーシャラは、濃き霧の帳を生み出し、人々の視線という障りを取り除いた。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how social visibility and propriety can become ethical constraints, and how extraordinary power is used to remove practical obstacles; it also invites reflection on secrecy, accountability, and the moral weight of actions done away from public view.
A woman objects that their union cannot occur because others are watching. In response, the sage Parāśara uses his spiritual power to generate a fog, concealing them from onlookers.
