तस्मात् सम्मन्त्रयामोड्द्य भुजजड्रानामनामयम् | यथा भवेद्धि सर्वेषां मा न: कालो5त्यगादयम्
tasmāt sammantrayāmoddya bhujagendrāṇām anāmayam | yathā bhaved dhi sarveṣāṁ mā naḥ kālo ’tyagād ayam, yathā naṣṭaṁ purā devā gūḍham agniṁ guhāgatam ||
ゆえに本日、蛇王たちの安寧と安全をいかにして守るべきか、よくよく評議しよう。この時をむだに過ごしてはならぬ。共に策をめぐらせば、この危難を脱する道は見いだせる――かつて神々が、失われ洞窟に隠れていた火を見つけ出したように。
शेष उवाच
In a crisis, wise communities act through timely, collective deliberation. The verse stresses urgency (do not waste the moment) and shared counsel as the ethical and practical means to secure common welfare.
Śeṣa addresses the nāgas, urging them to meet and plan immediately for their safety. He motivates them with an example: just as the gods once recovered hidden fire from a cave, so the nāgas can discover a solution through united counsel.
