वैशम्पायन उवाच एवं स्तुतस्तदा तेन मन्दपालेन पावक:

Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca—evaṁ stutas tadā tena Mandapālena Pāvakaḥ; prasannaḥ sa mahātejā ṛṣim abhyabhāṣata—“kiṁ te ’bhīṣṭaṁ karavāṇi?”

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。かくして賢者マンダパーラに讃えられたとき、パーヴァカ（アグニ）は無量の光輝を放ちつつ大いに満悦し、喜びの心でその仙人に告げた。「そなたの望むいかなる目的を、我が成し遂げようか。」
