स हि सर्वस्य लोकस्य हितमात्मन एव च | चिकीर्षन् सुमहातेजा रेमे भरतसत्तम,भरतश्रेष्ठ! महातेजस्वी राजा युधिष्ठिर सब लोगोंका और अपना भी हित करनेकी चेष्टामें लगे रहकर सदा प्रसन्नतापूर्वक समय बिताते थे
sa hi sarvasya lokasya hitam ātmana eva ca | cikīrṣan sumahātejā reme bharatasattama ||
その大いなる威光の人は、世のすべての益と、また己の益とをも成そうとした。おお、バラタ族の最勝者よ。大いなる心をもつ王ユディシュティラは、つねに有益なることをなすに専念し、ただ快楽に溺れるのではなく、正しき目的のうちに喜びを見いだして、満ち足りた時を過ごした。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A righteous ruler seeks the welfare (hita) of all people while also maintaining his own well-being; true contentment arises from sustained intention to do good rather than from indulgence.
Vaiśampāyana describes Yudhiṣṭhira’s disposition: he remains engaged in actions aimed at universal and personal welfare, and thus lives in steady satisfaction and calm prosperity.
