mātrā cārdhaṃ ca tisrastu vijñeyāḥ paramārthataḥ tatprayuktastu yo yogī tasya sālokyamāpnuyāt
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It links outer devotion to inner discipline: correct, measured mantra-recitation (mātrā and half-mātrā) refines the worshipper’s consciousness, making Linga-pūjā a yogic means toward Śiva’s realm (sālokya).
Śiva is implied as Pati—the Lord whose sphere is attainable when the pashu (individual soul) practices the right saṃskāra of mantra and yoga, loosening pāśa (bondage) through disciplined application.
Mantra-japa with precise timing—knowing the three mātrā-s and the half-mātrā—presented as a Pāśupata-oriented yogic discipline that culminates in sālokya-mukti.
