人において、腹に宿る火(パーヴァカ)は消え失せない。その火こそが、生命の風(パヴァナ)にあおられつつ、外に炎も光も現さぬまま、「ジャータラアグニ(腹中火)」と呼ばれる。
Suta Goswami (narrating the Purva-Bhaga teaching to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It points worship inward: just as the Linga signifies the subtle, formless Pati (Shiva), the true fire of purification is also subtle—Jāṭharāgni sustained by prāṇa—supporting inner śuddhi that makes external Linga-pūjā fruitful.
By emphasizing a fire that is real yet not outwardly visible, it mirrors Shiva-tattva as the unseen sustainer: the Pati who remains present within the pashu (individual soul) even when not perceived by the senses.
It highlights prāṇa–agni sambandha: regulating prāṇa (vital wind) to steady the inner fire—supporting yogic discipline and purification that align with Pāśupata-oriented inner worship.
