Suta Goswami (narrating the Purana to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It highlights that disciplined speech (mantra) and tapas generate tejas; in Shaiva practice, such tejas is ultimately Shiva’s śakti and is offered back into the cosmic order, supporting worship and stability around the Linga-centered dharma.
Though Surya is named directly, the verse points to the supreme tejas behind all lights; in Shaiva Siddhanta, this indicates Pati (Shiva) as the ground of all radiance, with manifest tejas functioning as His śakti within creation.
Mantra-stuti (hymnic praise) joined with tapas—an ascetic-yogic discipline where concentrated utterance and inner heat (tejas) become a spiritual offering that sustains both the practitioner and the world.
