priyavratātmajā vīrās te daśeha prakīrtitāḥ āgnīdhraścāgnibāhuś ca medhā medhātithirvasuḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
By listing Priyavrata’s sons, the verse situates worldly kingship and lineage inside Shiva’s cosmic governance (Pati). For Linga worship, it reinforces that all social order and creation proceed under Mahadeva’s supreme lordship.
Though Shiva is not named directly, the narrative function is Shaiva: creation’s order (names, lineages, succession) is intelligible because Pati upholds dharma while paśus remain bound by pāśa until liberated through Shiva’s grace and discipline.
No specific puja-vidhi is taught in this verse; the takeaway is contemplative—Pashupata-oriented discernment that even illustrious lineages are part of saṃsāric order, to be transcended through Shiva-bhakti, vrata, and yoga aimed at liberation.
