jaṭino muṇḍinaścaiva nagnā nānāprakāriṇaḥ saṃpūjyāḥ śivavannityaṃ manasā karmaṇā girā
ジャターの髪を結ぶ者、剃髪の者、そして裸形の者——外相さまざまな修行者たちは、常にシヴァ御自身を敬うがごとく、心によって、行いによって、言葉によって礼敬されるべきである。
Suta Goswami (narrating the Linga Purana’s teaching to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It extends Linga-puja into lived practice: honoring Shaiva renunciants as Śiva is a direct form of worship, performed through thought, word, and deed.
It implies Śiva’s immanence: the Pati is to be recognized not only in the Linga but also in those who embody renunciation and devotion, encouraging Shiva-bhāva (seeing Śiva everywhere).
Sadhu-seva as a Shaiva discipline aligned with Pāśupata orientation—purifying the pashu (bound soul) by surrendering ego and serving with मनसा–कर्मणा–गिरा (mind, action, speech).
