Varāha Confronts Hiraṇyākṣa: The Challenge, the Rescue of Earth, and the Opening of the Mace-Duel
na yāvad eṣa vardheta svāṁ velāṁ prāpya dāruṇaḥ svāṁ deva māyām āsthāya tāvaj jahy agham acyuta
This verse shows the Devas asking the Lord to take shelter of His own divine energy and immediately destroy the sinful aggressor, indicating that the Supreme Lord’s internal potency acts to uphold dharma and protect the world.
Because Hiranyaksha is described as dreadful and likely to become even more dangerous as he reaches his ‘appointed time’; the Devas therefore urge the Lord to end the threat without delay.
When harm and adharma are escalating, a devotee should pray with urgency and faith, relying on the Lord’s higher power rather than personal anxiety, and act promptly within dharma instead of postponing what is necessary.
