This verse states that Kāma (desire) is born from Saṅkalpa—mental determination or intention—showing desire’s root in the mind’s resolve.
In this section Śukadeva outlines cosmic genealogies—how various devatās and beings manifest—so Parīkṣit can understand the ordered creation and its controllers within the Lord’s arrangement.
Since desire follows intention, cultivate deliberate, dharmic intentions—especially devotional resolves (bhakti-saṅkalpa)—to redirect the mind toward higher desires.
